The owner purchased a townhouse on Park Avenue which was formerly part of the next adjoining house. On the ground floor, the two buildings shared a garden, a space which was recessed under the townhouse and contained a small pool for fish. The owner wished to reclaim this space which was underneath an enclosed sunroom.

The reclaimed space is to be used for a new dining room, adjacent to a renovated existing kitchen and a breakfast room with seating area and pantry storage. The new dining room was designed as a stone room on the floor and new outside wall. The other walls are to be finished in pale green Venitian plaster with hardwood trim. The exterior wall, which encloses the building, was to be made of Valders Buff Dolomite stone with pietra serena accent stone inserted in various locations.

The project explores the idea of a return to dense stone construction for both environmental reasons and to explore the possibility of an ornamental approach to the stone construction.
