BLUMENTHAL RENOVATION

Location: Mount Kisco, New York
Architect & Designer: George Ranalli
Project Architect: Alexandra Porter
Project team: Price Harrison, David Gissen, Mario Gentile

This project consists of a set of small scale interventions into an existing 1930s house. The new program elements are, among other interventions, the removal of the existing South Wall of the house and replacing it with a wall of mahogany doors, a projecting dining bay, and a screen porch in the existing covered terrace. The new elements are fabricated in a distinctive and highly visible set of material choices that aim to enhance the existing building while also expanding the range of design currently evident within it. Each piece is designed to solve the necessary technical problem while also extending the inside-outside relationships to a higher degree of consciousness.
