The Renovation and restoration of the Fashion Center are meant to be a mixture of history with contemporary design. They are allowed to influence each other directly, blurring the exact line of each historic moment.
In the entry vestibule, the existing terra cotta, windows and metal work were carefully restored and reinvigorated with new designs for the floor and ceiling. New ceiling plaster and arches were recast in the same method as the original. In the main lobby, new ceiling lights and a contemporary desk were designed to work in tandem with the restored floral ceiling panels, plaster columns, and metal work. |
